Rick Hafele's Favorite Fly Patterns and how to fish them, aquatic insectsRick Hafele's Favorite Fly Patterns and how to Fish Them
Booklet: by Rick Hafele

My objective with this small booklet is to share a group of fly patterns I have found effective in a wide range of situations and locations, often producing when many other patterns fail. After forty years of fly fishing these are the flies I want in my fly box no matter where or when I'm fishing for trout. While often designed to match a specific insect or hatch, most of these flies represent pattern styles that can be adjusted in size and color to match dozens of different aquatic insects. This is one reason for their widespread success  Use the specific dressings given here as a guide and adjust them to best match the dominant hatches where you are fishing.

The patterns presented include five nymphs, three emergers and four dry flies. After each dressing I provide a brief description of how I typically fish it. Again this information should be used as a general guide.   The specific behavior of insects and fish where you are fishing should always be your main instructor when deciding how to present your fly. By no means are these the only patterns you will need during the season-but they come close. I hope they provide you with as much success and enjoyment as they have provided me. - Rick Hafele ( $5.00 with Free shipping )
